Kanger Royal Palace

Set in the lush forests of kangar, the palace is a small but magnficent colonial-style building. It is owned by the royal family and continues to be their residence, though a portion of it has been opened up for visitors. The suites are large ad spacious, and the bathrooms have been retained, with subtle changes to usher in modern conveniences. The rooms have high ceilings adorned with traditional desingns while some of the antique palace furniture is still visible. A truly nostalgic feature is theuse of traditional pankhas. Venture out to the ancient Bhoramdeo and Danteshwari temples, and the Mama Bhanja ka Mandir. For a taste of the creative tradition here, head to the nearest weekly market. Visit also nagarnar for terracotta work, Kondagaon and Bastar Adi Shilp for the famous bell metal craft, and Kosa for its tussar silk centre.
