Mahua Kothi

The heady smell of mahua flowers is intoxicating, pugmarks on the dry river bed startling. Tropical forest gives way to woodland scrub and the drama of rock and grass. Bandhavagarh is host to many of India’s tigers, and also houses a 2,000-year-old fort. Mahua kothi, named after the jungle flower, is stone’s throw from Bandhavagarh’s interior. There are 12 guest suites built with local materials, each with shaded seating and traditional mud floors. interiors are earthy, rough-hewn with mud coloured walls, wooden shutters and roll-down mats. Dinners are served under the Lodge’s signature mahua tree in season, and are famous for their flavours.
