A Dolphin peeps out and then arcs into the air while elsewhere, crocodiles glide through inlets. You can see it all by boat at the Bhagwan mahavir Sanctuary, along with the spectacular Dudhsagar waterfall. And your stay? At a star spangled retreat on the crest of tropical hill. Nilaya Hermitage is a 12-room Arabian Nights fantasy. The rooms centre around cosmic themes, and some have open-air bathrooms with views of the lush gardens. There’s a split-level, saffron-painted Music Room, where guests unwind on sprawling mattresses or meditate under a high, blue ceiling. Nilaya means ‘heaven’, after all, and the setting is unbelievably romantic.
