The charm of Panchavatti-which translates to Five Sacred Trees-definitely lies in the 40m-long verandah that overlooks the Mapusa river, the nearby forest and the rolling paddy fields. Compliment your daydreaming and conversation here with a Goan breakfast of home-made bread, strawberry jam and rich coffee. There’s nothing here that will disturb you, and even the guesthouse’s decorative touches are soothing-bowls of floating flowers, soft lamps and copper pots stand in nooks, and the fragrance of jasmine and frangipani wafts around the courtyard, at the centre of which is a gurgling fountain. This little stone, with high wooden ceilings and tiled roofs, and all the furniture is crafted in traditional style.
