Rao Raj Vilas

A Mud fort rising from the plains and the villages around it. Seemingly endless swaying fields of sugarCance, a forest of keekar to be walked through. Boats bobbing on the Ganges. Peacocks perched ontop of buildings. Life at Rao Raj Vilas can be addictive. It is situated inside the fort, built in 1784, and is run by the family. Seven of the massive mud bastions of the fort are still standing, though the moats are now dry. There are only 10 guestrooms, very much as they were when first decorated for their original owners. Adorned in shades of flaming yellow, the magnificent Maharaja Suite geets the rays of the morning sun that light up the fort. in the evening you can sit with your hosts, as moths flutter around, and listen to stories of herism.
