Sometimes It’s not just the food that makes a meal, but rather the entire experience of it. And that’s what Vivenda dos palhacos excise at. Not that their food is anything less than excellent-their chef has a way with food, especially fish, while your host Simon is a mean hand at acrambled eggs and Can, and does, recommend good restaurants around (Zeebop usion). What makes Vivenda a foodie getaway is dinnertime, a communal meal served at huge table, with what seems to be a perennially interesting crowd that can make the meal, as one guest put it, ‘a real lauch’. It’s also the place to try and beat some records in drinking Haywards beer (the brew owned by your hosts). Need further incentive?
