Plantation Hotel

Ride the ripples of the Kelaniya River in an exhilarating rush, through some gorgeous scenery. Kithulgala offers some of Sri Lanka's best white water rafting with grade 3 rapids. They start 5 km or so upriver and rush you down to the famous kitulgala Bridge where David lean famously shot Bridge on the River kwai. The plantation Hotel is a gracious old colonial bungalow that's been refurbished and organises white water rafting trips for guests. There are 8 comfortable rooms with antique furiture and the restaurant is by the river, so that you can actually sit and watch the rushing waters while you eat. Four km from the hotel are the Beli Lena Caves, one of Sri lanka's ancient archaeological sites, and nice walk from the hotel.
