TUCKED into busy alleyway in Galle This 18th century structure was once a college and once a college, and then a print shop. Today, It's a stylish boutique hotel, and one of Dutch Sri Lanka's best-kept secrets. Its high window and ceilings still capture the sea breeze, and the antique-filled villa, with its jackwood floors and copper-lined rain showers, still holds stubbornly onto its colonial flavour. The large inner courtyard is surrounded by frangipani trees, and leads tot he drawing room, with its deep, inviting alcoves and wide teakwood windows that look out onto the gallery. Enjoy a drink under the soft lighting here, or spend an afternoon in quiet conversation. The dining room runs the length of the mansion-choose an intimate corner.
